Gemma, Full Trisomy 18, Thriving Thursday Child

Gemma (Full) 13 months old (currently)

Gemma Miracle Story

At 13 weeks pregnant, I received the diagnosis that my baby girl, Gemma, had Trisomy 18. From that moment on, it felt like every doctor’s appointment brought more heartbreaking news. I was repeatedly told that she wouldn’t be breathing at birth—but Gemma proved them wrong. Despite being told by some that my child was not a miracle, today, at one-month-old (Now 13 months old), Gemma is thriving.

Gemma does have a heart defect, but fortunately, it doesn’t require immediate surgery. She will soon have a G-tube placed to help her grow stronger. Every day, Gemma defies expectations, showing all those doctors how much of a miracle she truly is.
